“For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?”- Mark 8:36
Seriously, I don't get it anymore. I see my friends falling down deeper and deeper into bad situations, and they think it is the best thing ever, think it's a great laugh and I can't see it anymore. I can't figure out how I thought all of that stuff was great while I was doing it. Because the day after a night of heavy drinking and "fun" is definitely a horrible day. Which clearly shows that it is not good for you.
I don't understand why people become "legends" for being able to drink way more than anyone else, for doing stupid harmful crap that hurts other people. Or even doing those things when you are sober for that matter. I do not understand the fun in hurting others. Or pulling dumb pranks that are harmful to others or that damage property and anything like that.
I don't understand how someone can become so popular from hurting others, physically, mentally and emotionally. Where's the fun in knowing you made someone feel horrible about themselves?
All that stuff gets you is a reputation, a bad one. And if you enjoy that rep, that makes you an even worse person in my opinion.
What good is your reputation when you are dead? What good is it gonna do your children in the future? Will the "fun" of it last? You can't do that stuff when you are older and get away with it. Do you really wanna end up living like this, or even ending up in worse places?
Open your eyes people, you need to start thinking about loving others, not hurting them. There is enough hurt in this world without you adding to it.
Sure, you will get "friends", people who tell you that what you did was awesome or that "you were some laugh the other day when you beat the head off that young'wan" or whatever, but they aren't true friends. What kind of friend encourages you to beat people up and to put yourself into those situations? A bad one, thats what.
I used to drink myself to sleep. It was a bad time. I would drink and drink and drink. Some people thought this was amazing, that we would have the greatest fun ever in doing it. I even thought it sometimes.nBut I know now how damaging that was to me and my health. And that I am lucky to still be here.
I should have every manner of disease and I should have about 3 kids by now, I should even be dead. But I got away from all that.
I found the Lord.
I know NOW that He protected me in those situations because He knew that I was seeking love in the wrong places, seeking fun in the wrong ways, and He brought me to himself to show me the right path to take.
And the right path to take is His, to walk with the Lord is to be happy.
I'm not saying I'm perfect now, by no means am I, but Jesus died for me, He bore my sins on the cross and yours, and He died, His blood covers us, washes us white as winter snow.
He gives me peace and patience, He loves me. And since I found him, I have been happy, so happy. I am a new person. And my life is considerably better than it was last year.
2 Corinthians 5:17 (English Standard Version)
17Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come..
If you believe in Jesus and live for Him, turn from sin, turn from the old life, and He will make you a new creation, a new person, I'm not saying you will suddenly be perfect, but it feels pretty amazing to know that the Creator of the Universe wants a relationship with you. Nevermind all those other places you sought love, seek Him because He loves you.
I found it hard to believe it at first, but then God spoke to me, not right out loud, but through His Word, the Bible. I was a "have to see it to believe it" person and He showed himself to me through the Bible, I would never have thought it, but I recieved this great honour of God talking to me, the Creator of all things, talking to me?!
IT IS AMAZING, GOD IS AMAZING,
and I highly suggest you take a look at your life and ask yourself are you truly happy in your situation? Do the things you pursue for fun, make you happy the day after you do them?
I pray that the people out there who I am referring to would turn to the Lord when looking for love or for purpose.
8 Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.1 John 4:8 (English Standard Version)
